Xiuli Dong

Dr. Xiuli Dong is an Assistant Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at the Jerry M. Wallace School of Osteopathic Medicine (CUSOM), Campbell University. She holds a Ph.D. in Microbiology from Huazhong Agricultural University and a B.S. from the same institution. Prior to joining CUSOM in 2022, she worked as a lecturer in molecular biology and conducted research in microbiology at institutions like North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and North Carolina Central University’s Biomanufacturing Research Institute and Technology Enterprise (BRITE).

Her research focuses on developing biomedical and nanotechnologies to combat pathogenic microorganisms, including antimicrobial mechanisms, photocatalytic inactivation, and environmental applications. Funded by agencies like the US Army Research Office, NIH, NSF, and USDA, her work has produced over 30 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Dong is passionate about teaching, mentoring students, and advancing interdisciplinary research.

Key research interests include nanomaterials (e.g., carbon quantum dots, graphene oxide), antimicrobial technologies, and environmental microbiology. Her recent studies explore applications in food safety, bacterial inactivation, and bioremediation.
