About
Dr. Xinyuan Chen is a Professor at the University of Rhode Island's College of Pharmacy, where he leads the Vaccine & Molecular Pharmaceutics Laboratory. His research integrates novel vaccine adjuvants, transdermal delivery systems, and physical enhancement techniques to improve immunogenicity and safety. Prior to URI, he held positions as Instructor and Postdoctoral Fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital and a Postdoc at Burke Medical Research Institute.
His education includes a Ph.D. and B.S. from Nanjing University. Research interests span:
- Vaccine Adjuvants: Radiofrequency enhancers, CpG 1018, and virus-like particle platforms
- Drug Delivery: Laser-facilitated transdermal systems for sustained release
- Omics & Mechanisms: Proteomic studies of adjuvant actions
- mRNA Vaccines: Novel adjuvants for next-generation platforms
Recent publications (2020-2024) focus on influenza vaccine enhancement, radiofrequency adjuvants, and laser-based delivery, with Nature Communications and Biomaterials among the high-impact journals. The lab actively trains PhD/MS students and undergraduates, with alumni entering academia, industry (Moderna, Abogen), and MD/PhD programs (UMass).
