Dr. Xinyi Tan serves as an Associate Professor of Chinese and French and Director of the Intercultural Language Resource Center (ILRC) at Coastal Carolina University. She holds a Ph.D. in French Studies from The Ohio State University (2018) and has been instrumental in developing language programs at CCU, including launching a Chinese Studies minor. Her interdisciplinary research bridges Francophone studies, Asian diasporic literatures, and language pedagogy.
She leads the ILRC, funded by a Title VII grant, overseeing initiatives that enhance global awareness through DEI fellowships, study abroad mentoring, and community cultural events. Recognized for her teaching, she has won the LIS Professor of the Year (2021-2023), COHFA Distinguished Teaching (2022), and the 2023 FIE Award for community engagement.
Her academic contributions span French literature analysis, migrant narratives, and technology-driven language education. She maintains affiliations with Asian Studies and Women’s and Gender Studies programs, reflecting her commitment to interdisciplinary scholarship and cultural diversity.
