About
Dr. Xinchou Lou is a Professor of Physics at The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD), affiliated with the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. He joined UTD in 1994 and was appointed Head of the Physics Department in 2004, succeeding Dr. Roderick A. Heelis. His research focuses on elementary particle physics experiments at electron-positron colliders, high-performance cluster computing, and application of data mining techniques to scientific research.
Dr. Lou holds a B.S. in Experimental Nuclear and Particle Physics from the University of Science and Technology of China (2018) and a Ph.D. in Physics from the State University of New York at Albany (1989). His work includes measurements using the BABAR detector at SLAC, Monte Carlo simulations, and studies of charmonium production and heavy flavor physics. He has contributed to key experiments such as the Low Energy Scan at BES and analysis of initial state radiation events at B-factories.
His technical expertise spans offline computing systems, detector calibration, and data analysis methodologies. Dr. Lou’s leadership in the Physics Department aligns with UTD’s growing research portfolio in space sciences and high-energy physics collaborations.
