Xin Wang is a Professor of Molecular Cardiology at the University of Manchester's Division of Cardiovascular Sciences, within the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health. He holds roles as Research Impact Lead in Cardiovascular Sciences and serves as Senior Editor of the British Journal of Pharmacology, Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Drug Discovery and Pharmacology, and Editor of Cardiovascular Research and Hypertension. His research focuses on metabolic heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) and exosomal microRNA biomarkers for HFpEF diagnosis.
Education: MB ChB (Wuhan University School of Medicine), MSc (Medicine), PhD in Biological function of MAP kinase signaling (University of Manchester, 2006). Awards include a prestigious 5-year RCUK fellowship enabling independent research in Gene Regulation and Signalling in Cardiovascular Diseases.
Research interests include organelle signaling in metabolic HFpEF, lipid metabolism, ER stress, and biomarker discovery. Active in teaching courses like Omic Technologies and Pharmacology Practicals. He leads projects such as the BHF Centre for Research Excellence (2024-2029) and has advised 20 students. His work aligns with UN SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being).
