About
Xiaolin Nan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), where he leads research in cancer biology and nanoscale imaging. Affiliated with the Knight Cancer Institute and Cancer Early Detection Advanced Research Center, his lab develops advanced microscopy techniques to study molecular mechanisms in cancer.
Research Focus: Investigates cancer biology through single-molecule imaging and super-resolution microscopy, focusing on Ras signaling pathways, tumor microenvironments, and biomarker discovery. Techniques include DNA-PAINT, plasmonic nanosensors, and correlative microscopy workflows.
Academic Recognition: Recipient of the Damon Runyon-Rachleff Innovation Investigator Award (2013) and Hildegard Lamfrom Research Scholar award from OHSU Knight Cancer Institute (2019).
Technical Innovations: Pioneered methods for multiplexed nanoscale imaging of tissues, single-particle tracking of membrane proteins, and phosphoinositide-regulated exosome secretion mechanisms.
