Dr. Xiao Huang is an Academic Professor at Carleton University's Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering since 2009. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Manitoba and is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). Her expertise spans aerospace materials, additive manufacturing, and gas turbine component rejuvenation. Dr. Huang has over 19 years of academic experience, complemented by 10+ years in industrial roles at JDS Uniphase and Bristol Aerospace.
Education: Ph.D. (University of Manitoba, Electron Beam Welding of Superalloys), M.Sc. & B.Sc. (Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Materials Science).
Research focuses on superalloys, advanced manufacturing processes, and thermal barrier coatings. She has secured $3M+ in grants, published 200+ papers, and holds two US patents. Her work includes collaborations with NRC, CNL, and SMEs.
