About
Professor Xiang Zhang holds the position in Structural Integrity at Coventry University's Centre for Manufacturing and Materials. With over 30 years in UK academia, his research focuses on the relationship between manufacturing processes and material performance under fatigue loads.
His expertise spans fatigue and fracture mechanics, impact damage in composites, and additive manufacturing of lightweight alloys. Recent work investigates microstructure-property relationships in titanium alloys produced via wire-arc deposition and laser powder bed fusion.
Professor Zhang maintains active industry collaborations and has led multiple projects funded by UK and European research councils. His laboratory develops predictive models for defect tolerance in additively manufactured components.
