Xesús Prieto Blanco

Xesús Prieto Blanco serves as a Professor in the Department of Applied Physics at the Faculty of Physics, University of Santiago de Compostela. He maintains key affiliations with the Materials Institute (iMATUS) and Strategic Grouping in Materials (AEMAT), while leading the Quantum Materials and Photonics Group (QMatterPhotonics).

He earned his Doctorate from the University of Santiago de Compostela in 2016 with the thesis Integrated optical guides manufactured by ion exchange in glass by means of electric field assisted diffusion with mixed ion effect, supervised by Dr. Jesús Liñares Beiras.

His research centers on Optics with specialized focus in Photonics and Quantum Materials. Current work involves developing integrated optical guides through ion exchange techniques in glass substrates, utilizing electric field assisted diffusion and mixed ion effects to advance photonic device fabrication.

The QMatterPhotonics research group under his involvement explores quantum phenomena in novel materials for next-generation photonic applications, contributing to the university's strategic materials science initiatives.
