Wim Annaert serves as Full Professor in the Department of Neurosciences at KU Leuven and leads a research group at the VIB-Center for Brain & Disease Research in Belgium. He has held these positions since 2012 and 2001 respectively, with additional leadership roles including Co-Director of the VIB-KU Leuven Center for the Biology of Disease (2007-2015).
His research focuses on molecular neurobiology with specialization in Alzheimer's disease mechanisms. Dr. Annaert investigates membrane contact site biology, APP metabolism, and the function of gamma-secretase and presenilins in amyloid production.
