Dr Wilson Luu is a Lecturer and Clinical Supervisor at the School of Optometry and Vision Science, University of New South Wales (UNSW), where he teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students while conducting research on virtual reality applications in vision assessment. He earned his PhD in Vision Science from UNSW in 2022 and previously graduated with a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Optometry (Hons) from the same institution in 2015.

Wilson’s research focuses on virtual reality, sensory processes, visual perception, low vision, and neuro-ophthalmology. His work explores cybersickness, multi-sensory integration, and technological innovations in eye care, including AI applications.
He has received multiple accolades, such as the 2023 Student Experience Award and 2022 Displays Respect Award from UNSW. He also secured travel awards (ARVO 2021, APCV 2019) and scholarships (Guide Dogs NSW/ACT and Australian Government RTP) during his postgraduate studies.
Wilson’s professional roles extend beyond academia. He owns an independent optometry practice and served as the immediate past chairperson of the Not-For-Profit association Young Optometrists (YO), supporting optometry students and early-career professionals. He is affiliated with Optometry Australia (OA), the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), and the Cornea and Contact Lens Society of Australia (CCLSA).
