William Wang

Dr. William Wang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography and Planning at Appalachian State University. His research focuses on geospatial analysis, climate change, and human-environment interactions, employing GIS, remote sensing, and statistical methods. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut (2019) and a B.S. from Nanjing University (2015).

Research interests include analyzing climate change impacts on hydrology, land use dynamics, and socio-economic factors. Notable projects include modeling urban forests in desert cities and assessing pandemic policies. He has been awarded the Chancellor’s Innovation Scholars Program (2025) for community resilience research and the GRAM Award for mentoring graduate students in climate vulnerability studies.
