William Roche is Professor of Industrial Relations and Human Resources at the School of Business, University College Dublin, and Honorary Professor at the School of Management, Queen’s University Belfast. He earned his doctorate from the University of Oxford as a Heyworth Memorial Prize Research Fellow at Nuffield College and has held visiting professorships at the University of South Australia, Adelaide, and the University of Melbourne. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and a Fellow of the Geary Institute for Public Policy at UCD.
His research focuses on industrial relations, human resource management, workplace conflict resolution, and organizational change. He has authored and edited numerous books, including Managing Workplace Conflict: Alternative Dispute Resolution in Ireland and The Oxford Handbook of Conflict Management in Organizations, and contributed to strategic reviews by bodies like the Labour Relations Commission and the National Economic and Social Council.
He has served on editorial boards of leading journals such as The British Journal of Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management Journal. Notable awards include the Heyworth Memorial Prize Research Fellowship, Jean Monnet Fellowship, and Fellowship of the Irish Academy of Management.
