William Mitchell

William Mitchell is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Macalester College, based in Olin-Rice Science Center Room 237 with contact email wmitchel@macalester.edu.

His research specializes in microscale fluid dynamics involving very small or slow flows, such as viscous fluid behavior (e.g., honey on pancakes) and hydrodynamics of microorganisms (e.g., swimming bacteria). This work generates complex mathematical challenges requiring advanced computational techniques:
