Professor William MacNeil is an Honorary Professor at the University of Queensland’s TC Beirne School of Law, Distinguished Fellow at Westminster Law and Theory Lab, and former Dean of Law at Griffith University. His interdisciplinary research explores intersections of law, literature, and popular culture.
Publications critically examine legal narratives in Shakespearean drama, horror films, and fantasy literature, using psychoanalytic and critical theory frameworks. Award-winning book Novel Judgements (2012) received the Penny Pether Prize.
He edits the Edinburgh Critical Studies in Law, Literature and Humanities series and co-manages Pólemos: Journal of Law, Literature and Culture. Current projects analyze legal symbolism in contemporary cinema and television.
