William Foley

William Foley is a postdoctoral researcher affiliated with the Department of Sociology II at Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia. His work integrates social network theory and sociology of organizations to study the spread of Christianity in the ancient world, alongside broader interests in social inequality, luck, and social epistemology. He contributes to the MAPINEQ research project and maintains active collaborations with scholars like Klarita Gërxhani and Arnout van de Rijt.

Research interests include socioeconomic disparities in parenting practices, cognitive effort dynamics in children, and systemic inequalities in education. His recent publications focus on meritocratic beliefs, pandemic policy impacts, and labor market discrimination, leveraging experimental designs and natural experiments.

Current projects examine indirect crowding effects, class-based homophily, and self-prediction mechanisms. He utilizes pre-registration protocols and open science practices, with replication packages available for most studies.
