Willa Granger

Willa Granger is Assistant Professor in Florida Atlantic University's School of Architecture. Her research examines material histories of social welfare through cultural landscape approaches, particularly analyzing architecture of care institutions. Current work investigates nursing home design as expressions of societal attitudes toward aging.

Her award-winning scholarship includes analyses of public housing developments and vernacular architecture. The 2019 article on San Felipe Courts received SESAH's Best Journal Article award for its innovative examination of multiple narratives embedded in built environments.

Granger develops methodologies for interpreting social histories through spatial analysis and material culture. As 2024 Tyson Scholar at Crystal Bridges Museum, she expanded research on American art and architecture intersections.

Teaching integrates historical analysis with community-engaged design studios. She directs projects examining how built environments shape experiences of care, aging, and social equity.
