Will Scheibel

Will Scheibel is a Professor and Chair of the Department of English at Syracuse University. He holds a Ph.D. in Film and Media Studies from Indiana University Bloomington. His research focuses on U.S. film history, Classical Hollywood, performance/stardom, horror/noir/melodrama genres, and transmedia phenomena. He is currently writing a book on Universal Classic Monsters and their cultural franchising.

His research explores film circulation, paratextual materials, and media convergence. Recent works include Penny Dreadful and Adaptation (2023) and Gene Tierney: Star of Hollywood's Home Front (2022). His teaching includes courses on American cinema, film noir, and Hollywood star systems.

Awards: Humanities Center Faculty Fellowship (2021).
