Will Pitt is an Associate Professor and Director of the Musculoskeletal Physical Therapy Curriculum at the University of Pittsburgh's Department of Physical Therapy within the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. Prior to his academic role, he served as a clinical physical therapist in the U.S. Army, including deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan with the 10th Mountain Division and the 75th Ranger Regiment. He previously held academic positions as an Associate Professor and Assistant Professor at the Army-Baylor DPT Program and Doctoral Fellowship at West Point.
His research focuses on wearable technologies for dynamic balance control deficits, running gait retraining, and functional return-to-activity assessments post-surgery. He holds certifications as a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy. Dr. Pitt’s military career included roles as a Special Operations Physical Therapist and deployments, reflecting his expertise in high-stress environments. He earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy from the U.S. Army-Baylor University program and a PhD in Human Physiology from the University of Oregon.
