Will Broughton is a Professor and Director of Education at Buckinghamshire New University (BNU), leading the School of Health and Social Care Professions. He holds roles as Programme Lead for the BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science and oversees education quality across the School. Previously, he served as a Senior Lecturer and Programme Lead in Paramedic Science at the University of Hertfordshire. Clinically, he maintains frontline roles with NHS ambulance services and acts as a paramedic expert witness in legal cases.
Education includes a BSc (Hons) in Paramedic Science, MSc in Paediatrics and Child Health (Imperial College London), and PGCerts in Business Administration and Higher Education Teaching. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and College of Paramedics. His research focuses on paediatric emergency care, including advising the NHS England National PEWS/SPOT programme and contributing to an NIHR Health Technology Assessment Committee.
Notable projects include co-creating the UK’s first National Student Paramedic Conference and designing an ambulance education programme in Sri Lanka, training 200+ healthcare workers. At BNU, he collaborates with NHS trusts to deliver paramedic science programmes and drives educational innovation as School Director of Education.
