Dr. Wiljo van Hout is an Assistant Professor at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences, affiliated with the Department of Clinical Psychology & Experimental Psychopathology. He holds dual roles as a registered healthcare psychologist and cognitive behavioral therapist/supervisor at VGCt (Jonx/ATN) and a teacher in postgraduate training programs.
Education: MSc in Mental Health Sciences (Maastricht University), PhD in Psychology (University of Groningen, 2000) under Prof. Paul Emmelkamp. Postdoctoral work included coordinating the Postgraduate Training Institute in Groningen.
Research focuses on anxiety disorders, OCD, emetophobia, and CBT/exposure therapy optimization. Current projects include investigating imagery rescripting in OCD treatment and exposure therapy efficacy in youth. He supervises PhD students like Hannah Meckling and collaborates with institutions like UCP.
Teaching responsibilities include courses on diagnostics, therapy protocols, and clinical internships in Dutch/English.
