Wilfried Rickels

Prof. Dr. Wilfried Rickels is Director of the Research Group 'Global Commons and Climate Policy' at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy and a Fellow at the Kiel Centre for Globalization. His research focuses on interdisciplinary approaches to climate economics and policy, with particular emphasis on ocean sustainability, carbon dioxide removal, and climate engineering solutions.

Rickels investigates complex climate policy frameworks, including emissions trading systems, carbon removal technologies, and geoengineering governance. His work integrates economic modeling, environmental science, and policy analysis to address global challenges in climate mitigation and adaptation strategies.
