Dr. Wilber Sabiiti is a Principal Research Fellow at the School of Medicine, University of St Andrews, within the Infection and Global Health Division. Dr. Sabiiti holds a PhD from the University of Birmingham, an MSc from Vrije University Brussels, and a BSc from Makerere University. His research spans tuberculosis, antimicrobial resistance, molecular diagnostics, and vaccine development, with strong interdisciplinary collaboration across Africa, Europe, and North America.
His research focuses on developing and optimizing rapid diagnostic tools such as the TB-MBLA assay, understanding drivers of antimicrobial resistance, and translating innovations into public health policy. He also investigates viral diagnostics and vaccine access in resource-limited settings, including mpox and COVID-19. His recent publications reflect a strong emphasis on computational modeling, AI-assisted diagnostics, and epidemic response strategies.
