Prof. Wiebke Loeper is a Professor of Photography and Dean of the Department of Design at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam (FH Potsdam). Born in Berlin (1972), she holds a Diploma in Photography from the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig (1997). Her career includes prestigious roles such as DAAD scholar in the USA, Fellow at Villa Aurora Los Angeles (2006), and guest critic at the University of Hartford Art School. She has received awards including the German Youth Photography Prize (1993) and the Aenne Biermann Prize (1997).
Education highlights include studies at Leipzig Academy and master studies under Joachim Brohm. Her research focuses on contemporary photography, urban studies, and art education. Key projects include the Shrinking Cities initiative (2004) and the Changing Perspectives course collaboration. Her exhibitions span international venues like Goethe-Instituts, the Museum Küppersmühle, and the GRASSI Museum Leipzig.
Recent work includes co-editing Changing Values & Its Signs (2017) and organizing the 2023 Urgent Present exhibition. She balances academic leadership with active participation in global photography festivals and curatorial projects.
