Whitney J. Detar

Whitney J. Detar, PhD, BCBA-D is a Core Faculty member and Director of Faculty Support at Antioch University, specializing in Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). She earned her PhD from the University of California, Santa Barbara (2013) and has taught at institutions including UCSB, Cal State Channel Islands, and Antioch University in clinical psychology, developmental psychology, and education programs.

Her research focuses on growth mindset in traditional and nontraditional students, social skills interventions for young adults with ASD, and translating psychological research into practice. She has authored 12 publications and chaired 15 doctoral dissertations in psychology over the past four years.

Recent trends in her work include ASD therapies, family advocacy, and behavioral interventions for adults with developmental disabilities. She has also contributed to publications on procedural fidelity, romantic relationships in ASD, and educational strategies.

Whitney has served as a Clinical Supervisor and Researcher at the UCSB Koegel Autism Center, collaborated on international practitioner training, and developed professional online courses to disseminate evidence-based practices.
