Wesley T Johnson

Wesley T Johnson is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Communication Department at The University of Tampa. He holds a Ph.D. in Communication from the University of South Florida (2021), an M.A. (2014), and a B.A. (2010) from Saint Leo University.

Johnson specializes in critical media studies, focusing on surveillance, autoethnography, and the intersections of race, region, and gender in popular media. His research examines racialized rage, media representations, and the textual experience of analysts, integrating autoethnographic methods to bridge theory and practice. Current projects explore the Tampa Death Metal scene, horror culture, and themes of vengeance in contemporary media landscapes.
