About
Dr. Wesley M. Dose is a Senior Lecturer and DECRA Fellow in the School of Chemistry at the University of Sydney. He holds a prestigious Sydney Horizon Fellowship for research on sustainable and high-energy materials for energy storage. Previously, he held positions at the University of Leicester (2021) and the University of New South Wales (2022). He earned a BSc (Hons 1) and PhD in Chemistry from the University of Newcastle, followed by postdoctoral research at Argonne National Laboratory and the University of Cambridge.
His research focuses on developing advanced battery materials for lithium-ion, sodium-ion, and 'beyond lithium-ion' systems, addressing challenges in energy density, cost, and sustainability. Key areas include synthetic design of materials, degradation mechanisms, electrode-electrolyte interfaces, and recycling strategies. He employs advanced characterization techniques like X-ray diffraction, electron microscopy, and electrochemical methods.
Current projects include sodium-ion battery materials and high-energy lithium-ion electrolytes. He leads the Net Zero Institute and Sydney Nano Institute initiatives. Awards include the DECRA Fellowship (2022) and grants for electrochemical equipment. His work spans over 50 publications in top journals like ACS Energy Letters and Nature Communications.
