Prof. Werner Smolny is a Professor of Economic Policy (Ludwig-Erhard-Stiftungsprofessur) at the University of Ulm's Department of Mathematics and Economics since 2002/03. He concurrently holds a research professorship at the ZEW (Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research) in Mannheim since 1999. His academic career includes habilitation in economics (1997) and a doctorate (Dr. rer. pol.) from the University of Konstanz (1991). He has held teaching roles at the Universities of Stuttgart, Konstanz, Augsburg, and Ruhr-University Bochum.
