Werner Nahm

Prof. Dr. Werner Nahm is a Professor and Director of the Institute of Biomedical Engineering (IBT) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). He serves as Dean of Studies for Biomedical Engineering and leads research in optoelectronic systems, medical imaging, and surgical guidance technologies. His work focuses on integrating visual and diagnostic data to enhance surgical precision through advanced optical methods.

Research Interests:
Optoelectronics & Digital Image Processing, OCT Angiography, Intraoperative Imaging, 3D Reconstruction of Surgical Sites, and Radiation-Free Medical Diagnostics. Current projects include optical blood flow quantification, dialysis control models, and AI-driven craniofacial deformity classification.

Advising & Leadership:
Prof. Nahm supervises research projects led by students such as Simon Hoffmann (OCT angiography) and Lu Guo (3D camera methods). He oversees the IBT’s interdisciplinary teams advancing biomedical engineering applications.
