Dr. Weranja Ranasinghe is an academic urologic-oncology surgeon with joint appointments at Monash University's Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences in the Department of Anatomy & Developmental Biology, and Monash Health. As a Research Fellow, he maintains an active clinical and research presence in the field of urologic oncology with particular expertise in prostate and bladder cancers.
His research interests focus on the patho-physiological processes of high risk, lethal and metastatic prostate cancers, pathways leading to treatment resistance, and characterizing the biology of ductal prostate cancers. He investigates pathways driving metastasis development and mechanisms leading to adverse outcomes with conventional therapy. His work spans both clinical and laboratory-based projects, contributing significantly to prostate cancer research.
Dr. Ranasinghe's recent publications show a growing interest in the application of artificial intelligence in urology and healthcare, alongside his core focus on prostate cancer biology and treatment. His work demonstrates a trajectory from fundamental cancer biology toward translational applications and technological innovations in diagnosis and treatment.

His current projects focus on bladder cancer diagnostics, ductal prostate cancer therapeutics, and urothelial carcinoma monitoring.
