About
Wenting Sun is an Associate Professor at the Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology. His research focuses on combustion under extreme conditions, including combustion kinetics, plasma/ozone-assisted combustion, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation for future power generation and propulsion systems.
- Ph.D. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Princeton University (2013)
- M.E. and B.E. in Engineering Physics, Tsinghua University (2007, 2005)
Sun’s work involves developing advanced facilities like high-pressure shock tubes and predictive kinetic models to accelerate CFD simulations. He investigates multiple explosion mechanisms to prevent catastrophic failures in energy systems.
- Irvin Glassman Young Investigator Award (2018)
- AFOSR Young Investigator Program Award (2016)
- Bernard Lewis Fellowship (2012)
- Distinguished Paper at 33rd International Symposium on Combustion (2011)
He advises students including Miad Karimi and Suo Yang, and collaborates with the Ben T. Zinn Combustion Laboratory and Strategic Energy Institute (SEI) at Georgia Tech.
