Wenting Ma is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the Isenberg School of Management, University of Massachusetts Amherst (2019–present). She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from UNC Chapel Hill (2019), an MS in Economics (UNC Chapel Hill, 2017), an MS in Mathematical Finance (UNC Charlotte, 2013), and a BA in Economics from Xiamen University (2011).
Her research focuses on Empirical Corporate Finance, Finance and Labor, and Innovation, exploring topics such as employer market power's impact on worker earnings, board diversity's role in innovation, and racial pay gaps influenced by financing access. Her work has been featured in prestigious outlets like the Harvard Business Review and Journal of Financial Economics.
She actively contributes to academic communities by co-organizing the UMass Finance Seminars and the 18th Early Career Women in Finance Conference (2023). Her recent awards include the ADVANCE Fellow (2021–2022) and Flex Grant (2019–2021).
Teaching interests include Advanced Corporate Finance and Fundamental Financial Management. Her research has been supported by grants such as the ADVANCE Collaborative Research Seed Grant (2020) and the Massachusetts Society of Professors Research Support Fund (2020).
