Wentai Liu

Dr. Wentai Liu is a Distinguished Professor of Bioengineering at UCLA and member of the California NanoSystems Institute. His research pioneers implantable bioelectronic devices for neural prosthetics and gastrointestinal therapeutics.

His laboratory develops wireless neural interfaces for motor function recovery after spinal cord injury, closed-loop systems for gastrointestinal motility disorders, and advanced neuromodulation strategies for neuropathic pain. Technology innovations include high-focality transcutaneous electrodes and chronic implantation protocols for large-animal studies.
