Dr. Wenjie Che is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Howard University's College of Engineering and Architecture. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the University of New Mexico (2016) and specializes in hardware security, AI security, and secure hardware-software co-design. Dr. Che received the Best Hardware Demo Award (2nd Place) at IEEE HOST 2017 and has authored over 20 peer-reviewed publications.
His research focuses on hardware security primitives (PUFs), authentication protocols for IoT systems, FPGA/SoC security, and machine learning applications for security challenges. Recent work explores counterfeit IC detection using vision transformers and entropy optimization for PUFs.
Dr. Che actively mentors students and has served as Hardware Demo Chair for IEEE HOST (2022-present). He is currently recruiting PhD students for projects in AI security, embedded system security, and cryptographic protocols.
