Wendy Wong

Wendy Wong is a Professor and Principal’s Research Chair at the University of British Columbia, specializing in global governance, human rights, and technology. She holds affiliations with the Department of Economics, Philosophy and Political Science and the Digital Arts and Humanities program. Her research examines how non-state actors influence global policies, particularly in AI and humanitarian contexts.

Dr. Wong's work bridges technology ethics and human rights, with publications in peer-reviewed journals and media outlets like The Globe and Mail. She received her PhD from UC San Diego and has secured grants from SSHRC and CIFAR.

Her 2024 book We the Data won the Balsillie Prize, analyzing digital-age human rights challenges. She serves on advisory boards and promotes interdisciplinary collaboration in technology governance.
