Wendy Chase

Dr. Wendy Chase is a Professor of Humanities at Florida SouthWestern State College, where she serves as Director of the Center for Undergraduate Research and Creativity (CURC). She has taught courses in modern humanities, American cinema, and contemporary world cinema since 2004.

• Education: Ph.D. in Humanities (Film and Visual Culture emphasis) and M.A. in French Literature from Florida State University; B.A. in Humanities (minor in French) from Florida SouthWestern State College.

Dr. Chase specializes in film studies, visual culture, and art activism, with a focus on interdisciplinary approaches to cultural analysis. Her recent work explores creative interventions in social justice movements and the intersection of digital media with artistic expression.

She has received multiple accolades, including the Life-Changer Award (2020), NISOD Awards for Service to the College (2019, 2009), and the President’s Award for Exemplary Service (2009). Her research trends emphasize art's role in societal critique, blending cinematic analysis with activism and interdisciplinary methodologies.
