Dr. Wencke Meteling is a historian at the Department of Modern History, University of Marburg, Germany. She serves as Head of Subproject C01 - Enhanced Security, Women's Representative at the Department of Historical and Cultural Sciences, and Mentor for PhD students via the ProMotivation program. Her academic career spans roles at the International Research and Documentation Centre for War Crimes Trials (ICWC) and editorial contributions to portal-militaergeschichte.de.

Her research focuses on Economic and Social Policy Debates between Germany and Britain post-1945, Military and War History across German and French contexts (late 19th-20th centuries), and Urban History with emphasis on housing developments. Current projects analyze "British Decline" and "Standort Deutschland" discourse (1960s-2007) as part of her Habilitation thesis.
Recent publications explore political economy, First World War narratives, and urban housing evolution. She received the Werner Hahlweg Prize for Military History (2010) and held a Feodor-Lynen Fellowship at Cambridge (2013-14). Her work bridges political theory, military sociology, and urban development across modern European history.
