Wenbo Guo

Wenbo Guo is an Assistant Professor and Zhu Chair in the Department of Computer Science at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). He holds a PhD from Pennsylvania State University and a Master's from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. His research focuses on the intersection of machine learning and security, particularly in AI agents, LLM code reasoning, and agent security/safety. He actively explores reinforcement learning for security applications, explainable AI, and robustness of large models.

Guo's work includes designing foundation models for security problems, developing tools like PatchPilot and Co-PatcheR for software engineering, and defending against adversarial attacks. He leads the Agent Security team at Virtue AI, a startup addressing frontier AI security. His honors include the IBM Fellowship Award, Google ML Junior Faculty Award, and multiple conference recognitions.
