About
Dr. Weihua Ming is a Professor and Distinguished Chair in Materials Science at Georgia Southern University, College of Science and Mathematics, Department of Biochemistry, Chemistry, and Physics. He holds a B.S. in Materials Chemistry (1993) and a Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry & Physics (1998) from Fudan University. Previously, he served as a Research Associate Professor at the University of New Hampshire (2007–2011) and an Assistant Professor at Eindhoven University of Technology (2000–2007).
Research Interests
Dr. Ming's research centers on advanced materials with a focus on:
- Smart multifunctional coatings: Including super-repellent, antimicrobial, antibioadhesion, and antifogging technologies.
- Corrosion management: Smart coatings for early detection and prevention of corrosion.
- Self-healing polymers and nanostructured hybrid composites for industrial and biomedical applications.
Publications Overview
His recent articles (2012–2016) emphasize innovations in polymer-based coatings, nanomaterials, and surface engineering. Key themes include antifogging/antimicrobial functionalities, superhydrophobic surfaces, self-healing materials, and biosensor platforms. The work bridges fundamental polymer chemistry with practical applications in materials science.
