Dr. Wayne E. Mayer is an Instructor in the Environmental Sciences and Policy Division at Duke University and a Senior Fellow at the Duke Center for International Development (DCID). He also serves as CEO of When Everything Matters (WEMCo), a strategic sustainability consulting firm. His roles include teaching in the Duke Environmental Leadership Master of Environmental Management (DEL-MEM) Program and the Business & Environment concentration. Mayer specializes in linking corporate practices to ESG frameworks, with expertise in the mining sector and Latin America.
Education: Ph.D., Duke University (2006); M.S., University of Washington (1994); A.B., University of Denver (1991).
Research focuses on sustainability, environmental leadership, and the human/environmental impacts of artisanal mining. He collaborates with Duke’s mining working group and advises multinational corporations on sustainable development partnerships. Mayer’s work bridges academia, industry, and policy, emphasizing cross-sector alliances to address global environmental challenges.
