Wayne H. Knox is the Director and Professor of Optics at the Institute of Optics, University of Rochester. He earned his BS (1979) and PhD (1984) from the same institute. Previously, he held leadership roles at Bell Laboratories, including Director of the Advanced Photonics Research Department.
Research Focus: His work spans ultrafast science and technology, telecommunications systems, biomedical optics applications, and optics education. He has produced over 130 peer-reviewed publications and holds 40 patents.
Professional Leadership: He has chaired major conferences including Ultrafast Phenomena Meeting, CLEO, Optica Annual Meeting, and Quantum Optoelectronics Topical Meeting.
