Warren R. Zipfel is an Associate Professor at the Meinig School of Biomedical Engineering, Cornell University. He directs the NIH-funded Developmental Resource for Biophysical Imaging and Optoelectronics (DRBIO), which pioneered multiphoton imaging. His lab focuses on biomedical imaging technologies, including nonlinear microscopy, endoscopy, and laparoscopy, with applications in cancer detection and collaborative studies using transgenic mouse models. He also develops optical instrumentation and bioanalytical methods for cell signaling research.
Education: B.S. in Biochemistry (Cornell University, 1987), Ph.D. in Biophysics (Cornell University, 1993).
Research interests include biomedical imaging instrumentation, bioengineering, nanobio applications, and biophysics. His work bridges clinical and fundamental research, emphasizing optical detection of cancer and imaging techniques for protein analysis without dyes.
Awards: NSF Fellowship (Avtar Singh, 2010).
Grants/Advising: Leads DRBIO, an NIH-funded center. His lab collaborates on cancer biology studies and instrumentation projects. No listed advisees are provided here.
Labs/Teams: Zipfel Lab, specializing in optical microscopy and bioinstrumentation development.
