Warren Gillibrand

Warren Gillibrand is a Professor and Head of the Department of Nursing at the University of Huddersfield, School of Human and Health Sciences. He is also a member of the Centre for Applied Research in Health and the Institute of Skin Integrity and Infection Prevention. He joined the university in 2008 and has been actively involved in both clinical and academic research, particularly in diabetes and nursing services.

His research interests include diabetes, ophthalmology, nursing research design, evaluation of primary care diabetes services, prevention of type 2 diabetes, psychosocial interventions for chronic conditions, and clinical nursing research collaborations. His work contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to health and well-being.

The recent research articles highlight a strong focus on diabetes and dementia in Ghana, involving cross-sectional surveys and phenomenological studies on caregiver experiences, gender differences, and self-care adherence. His work demonstrates a commitment to global health and international research collaboration.

Warren Gillibrand has supervised 10 doctoral students to completion and serves as an external examiner for doctoral studies worldwide. He has been involved in peer review for journals and grants, including the Dutch Research Council and the British Journal of Health Care Management.

He has held honorary clinical appointments in acute and primary diabetes care and was a member of the National Service Framework for Diabetes nursing advisory panel and the Policy Advisory Group for the national retinopathy screening programme (2001–2007).
