Associate Professor Waqar Asad holds a leadership role as Deputy Head of School (Mining Engineering) at Curtin University's WA School of Mines. He has over 26 years of experience in academia and industry, specializing in stochastic optimization of mineral supply chains and sustainable mining practices. He earned his PhD and MSc from the Colorado School of Mines and BSc from the University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar.
His research focuses on mathematical models for optimizing open-pit mine operations, including cut-off grade policies, production scheduling, and waste management.
