Wang Chien Ming holds the position of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) Chair Professor of Structural Engineering at the School of Civil Engineering, University of Queensland (UQ). He previously served at the National University of Singapore (NUS) as Director of the Engineering Science Programme, Director of the Global Engineering Programme, and Vice-Dean of Undergraduate Programmes in the Faculty of Engineering. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Monash University, Australia.
Education: B.Eng. (Civil Engineering, Monash University, 1978), M.Eng.Sc. (Monash University, 1980), Ph.D. (Monash University, 1982).
Research interests include offshore floating fish farms, structural modeling, analysis, and vibration. He has authored/co-authored several influential books, including Large Floating Structures: Technological Advances and Structural Vibration: Exact Solutions for Strings, Membranes, Beams, and Plates.
Awards and recognitions include the Lewis Kent Award (2009), Keith Eaton Award (2014), and Nishino Medal (2019). He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering, Academy of Engineering Singapore, and multiple engineering institutions.
He actively contributes to professional organizations, such as the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) and the International Engineering Science Consortium (IESC), which he co-founded. His consulting work spans projects for JTC Corporation, Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, and others.
