Walter Torous

Walter Torous is a Senior Lecturer with a joint appointment in the MIT Sloan School of Management and the MIT Center for Real Estate. He holds a BMath in Economics from the University of Waterloo and a PhD in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania. Previously, he was Professor Emeritus at the UCLA Anderson School of Management and founding director of the UCLA Zimon Center for Real Estate.

His research focuses on real estate finance, mortgage securitization, pricing of financial instruments, corporate reorganization, and statistical issues in finance. He has consulted for various banks and financial institutions and serves as editor of Real Estate Economics and associate editor of the Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics.
