Prof. Dr.-Ing. Walter Sharmak is currently Head of the Institute for Digital Transformation in Construction and holds the Professorship for Digitalization in Construction at the Technical University of Mittelhessen. Previously, he served as a Professor at Lübeck University of Applied Sciences (2018–2023) and Junior Professor at the University of Kassel (2015–2018). His career includes roles as a technical employee at MAX Bögl Bauservice GmbH & Co. KG and BAM Deutschland AG. He obtained his Dr.-Ing. (Engineering Doctorate) from TU Dresden in 2011 and was a Research Associate at TU Dresden’s Institute for Construction Informatics from 2006 to 2010.
His research focuses on digital methods in construction, including building process modeling, smart technologies, and sustainable construction practices. His work bridges academic and industry applications, emphasizing innovation in construction informatics.
