Walter Sekot

Univ.Prof. Dipl.-Ing.Dr.nat.techn. Walter Sekot is a Professor at the Institute of Agricultural and Forestry Economics, Department for Economics and Social Sciences, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU). His research focuses on forest economics, sustainable forest management, and socio-economic aspects of forestry, with expertise in accounting data networks and economic analysis of small-scale forestry.

• Education: Doctoral degree (1986) and Habilitation (1991) from BOKU; Professorship (1993) at TU Dresden.
• Key Research Areas: Forest economics, bioeconomy, risk analysis in forest management, international forest accounting harmonization, and non-wood forest services.

His recent work includes analyzing forest accountancy data networks, timber and non-timber valuation, and challenges in sustainable forest management under climate change. He has presented extensively at international conferences like IUFRO and Forstökonomisches Kolloquium.
