Walter Ferrier

Walter Ferrier serves as Department Chair and Professor in the Department of Management at the Gatton College of Business and Economics, University of Kentucky. He holds a Ph.D. in Strategic Management from the University of Maryland and has been a visiting scholar at Stanford University and Aalto University in Finland.

Dr. Ferrier's research focuses on competitive dynamics between firms, strategic decision processes, and how organizational networks shape strategic choices. His work bridges theoretical frameworks with empirical analysis of head-to-head competition, appearing in premier journals like Strategic Management Journal and Academy of Management Journal.

He received the Academy of Management Journal Best Paper Award in 1999 for his seminal research on competitive interaction.

Dr. Ferrier teaches strategic management across all Gatton College programs including Ph.D., MBA, and undergraduate courses, plus the UK MBA program in Athens, Greece. His externally funded research includes grants from the National Science Foundation and the Social Sciences Research Council of Canada.
