Wade O. Troxell

Dr. Wade O. Troxell is Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Colorado State University with affiliations in systems engineering, biomedical engineering, and public policy. He holds a Ph.D. (1987) and M.S. (1982) in Mechanical Engineering from CSU, and a B.S. in Engineering Science (1980) from the same institution. His research focuses on AI-incorporated design, intelligent robotic systems, distributed energy, and smart grid technologies.

Previously serving as Fort Collins Mayor (2015-2021), Dr. Troxell received the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award for city innovation. He co-founded Sixth Dimension Inc. (acquired by Comverge) and holds leadership roles in energy consortia including the GridWise Alliance. His $755,000 'Virtually There' project integrates VR into nursing education.

Honors include the Sam Mamet Good Governance Award (2021), dual Oliver P. Pennock Distinguished Service Awards (2007, 2017), and ASME Fellowship (2007). He completed executive leadership training at Harvard through the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative.
